Bond and Transfer Cost Calculator

Estimate the upfront costs of buying a property in South Africa, including bond registration fees, transfer fees and transfer duty. These are paid in addition to your deposit.

What these costs cover

Bond registration costs are the attorney fees and charges for registering the home loan over the property at the Deeds Office. Transfer costs cover the conveyancing attorney who transfers ownership into your name. Transfer duty is a government tax based on the purchase price, and lower-value properties may fall below the threshold where it applies.

Budgeting for these costs

These amounts are usually payable before registration and are generally not included in your home loan, so they need to be budgeted separately from your deposit. Figures shown are estimates and the final amounts are confirmed by the attorneys handling the transaction.
