Additional Bond Payment Calculator
See what happens when you pay a little extra into your bond each month: how much interest you could save over the term, and how many years earlier the loan could be settled.
Why paying extra makes such a difference
Interest is charged on your outstanding balance. Every extra rand you pay reduces that balance immediately, so it reduces the interest charged for every remaining month of the loan. Even a modest additional amount paid consistently can shorten a 20-year bond meaningfully.
Before you commit to extra payments
Check the terms of your specific home loan with your bank, including how additional payments are applied and whether you can access those funds again if you need them.
